I have a Ta daa for you today. A finished Grace blanket! It’s been a long time coming as I’ve been working on this particular version for over two years now. But first, let’s rewind a little to 2015.

Fast forward to 2024 and I felt like the pattern needed a refresh. I’ve learned a lot about pattern writing over the last few years and wanted the pattern to reflect that. After a few false starts with my choice of yarn, and an interim revised version that I was never truly happy with, I have finally finished both the blanket and the pattern update.

So let’s get into the details.

The Grace blanket is a perfect way to improve your repertoire of crochet skills. I explain techniques such as starbursts, granny squares, join as you go and continuous join, all presented as picture tutorials to help you stitch by stitch. The pattern doesn’t assume any prior crochet experience so suitable even if you are very new to the craft. I’ve had some lovely messages from people who have told me that this pattern has taught them to crochet from scratch.

For my new version, I used Wendy Supreme dk 100g balls (295m)

10 x Cream

3 x Duck Egg

2 x Rose

2 x Soft Peach

2 x Natural

The finished blanket measures around 200cm x 200cm or 79” x 79” and is pictured on my (UK) Kingsize bed.

So there we have it, nearly ten years, thousands of stitches and countless hours on my laptop and I can finally say that my Grace blanket journey is complete. Hmm, maybe it’s time to get on with Grace II?
